Be Specific: Be specific about your goals, how long do you want to achieve it. For example, Let’s say you want to you want to become a business owner, this is where the 5Ws come in, the five We are who, what, when, where, why.
So let’s take me for example, I want to have a side hustle, now I need to be more specific and ask myself these questions, who? Me, When? Beginning of June, What? Open an store. where? On Etsy. why? To work towards my goal of having a side hustle. As you can see I was able to be more specific in my goals, you can follow the example to write down yours too.
Be Realistic With Your Goals: Another key element is to be very realistic with them, If you set goals that you know aren’t achieveable, you won’t be able to do anything.
Adjust Your Goals As You Go: Now that you have started working on your goals, you need to adjust it as you go. As soon as you start achieving your goals you need to adjust it so that you can down new goals.
Keep Track of Your Goals: Another tip on how to set goals is to keep track of it, As you are working and adjusting it you need to keep track of it and I also know that there will be days that you don’t want to work on it or you just don’t know if you are being productive, here is a post on how to be more productive so that you can start being even more productive with your goals.
Tell Someone: Tell someone about your goals so that they can keep you accountable to your goals, tell your friends and family about the goals that you have set so that they will help keep you accountable.
Celebrate Your Little Achievement: No achievement is too small to celebrate, you need to celebrate them so that by the time you get to the big one, you can feel fulfilled.

Goal setting is so hard, and I am trying to get better at it as well. Your tips are very helpful! My goal is to establish my blog and I work hard on that every day because I do want that side hustle. But I think something else to think about is Why is important to me? Think deeper into what is motivating the idea of having that side hustle. Is it just for more money? Is it because you want to change jobs, or work part time? I think that’s what sometimes set me up not achieving my goals, is not looking deeply into myself about them.
That is so true, one needs to dig deep about the why you want something.
I love setting SMART goals, it’s something I learnt in school and it’s stuck with me ever since, unfortunately, it’s not the setting goals I struggle with it’s the seeing them through.
Even i struggle with it sometimes
These are great! I’d definitely have a look at SMART targets and how that concept works! It has worked wonders for me.

I have done a lot of goal adjusting lately! With this self-isolation and kid home from school thing I had to be a little more realistic about how much I can accomplish in a day, week, or month in this temporary normal for now. Great tips.
Thank you
This is great advice for setting goals. I like to set myself goals at the beginning of every month, to be completed by the end of the month. I’ve learned how important it is to be specific with my goals, because if they are vaguely worded then I just don’t do them!
This is a very great post Nike. Your tips are actionable and I love them!

Great goal-setting tips. Much the same of what I tell my career coaching clients!
Man, I have a really hard time with “telling someone” part of goal setting. I just tend to keep to myself but I have noticed that when I do talk about a goal and I get support, I feel much more inclined to fulfill that goal than when I’m working on it alone. Thanks for this!
You are most welcome
Great simple steps to achieving goals! I love the suggestion to celebrate small wins. I think it’s important to set big goals, but then to celebrate little milestones on the way.

I have never written my goals down. Great suggestion!
I definitely agree about the importance of setting goals. I also think that it helps to create a vision board alongside your goals so that you can have a visual representation of what your life could look like once you achieve your goals!!

I absolutely agree with you
Love the motivational message of this post. I certainly find that I stick to my goals if I write them down. It’s hard to stick to goals and have much motivation at the moment, but I guess you have to take each day as it comes. Great post!
Love this! I definitely to work on coming back to my goals more often and updating them as I continue working on them! Definitely some great tips here!
