Long distance relationship can be a lot to take in, a lot to handle especially if you are in your first ever long-distance relationship, I have been in a long distance relationship and I can tell you confidently that it was not easy, it took a lot of patience and trust and love for the relationship to work, i will be sharing ways to make a long distance relationship work
In this post, I want to share some tips that will help you with your long distance relationship, these tips have worked for me and I hope it works for you, so without further ado let’s begin!!!
Set Ground Rules: In a long distance relationship the first thing that you do is to set ground rules and I know you must be asking what type of rules? Well, the first rule you should set is that your partner trusts you if he/she can’t trust you then the relationship can’t work. Rule 2 is that you and your partner should always stay in touch. These two rules are the most essential if you want you can also add your own rules.
Communicate Regularly and Creatively: When I was in a long distance relationship, my boyfriend and I always found a way to surprise each other, there was a time when I facetime him and I was at the cinema and I asked him if he wanted to watch a movie with me, he was so surprised but we watched the movie together (in secret by the way) and I can tell you this, it brought us closer together. Now am not saying you should facetime your partner but I am just giving you an idea of how you can be creative when you and your partner communicate.
Avoid Excessive Communication: In a long distance relationship, avoid calling or texting your partner, trust me it was a lesson I had to learn the way. This tip is very important, do not call or text your partner every hour or every minute of the day, To your partner, it will feel as if you are monitoring each and every move he/she makes. Instead you can schedule the times you and your partner will call and each other.
Visit Each Other: You and your partner should always try to visit each other, it is very essential for your relationship.
Be Honest to Each Other: In every relationship honesty is key, you and your partner have to be honest with each other and trust each other because if you do not then your relationship won’t work.
Know Each Other Schedule: You and your partner must know each other’s schedule if you want your relationship to work. for example, if your partner is in another country the time will be different so both of you should know what time is convenient to call and text your partner.
Keep Each Other Updated: You and your partner need to keep each other up to date about what is going on in your lives and also about your family and friends.
