Our ability to take risks by stepping out our comfort zone is the primary way in which we grow but most times we are scared to take that step. Comfort zone is not all about comfort, it mostly comes out of fear, fear that whatever it is one will fear at it or something bad will happen. Once you decide to step out of your comfort zone then you will love the process of taking risks and grow with the process.

How To Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone

Take The First Step: This is a very important part of stepping out of your comfort zone, if you don’t take that bold step to get out of your comfort zone then you will miss out on a lot of opportunities. What you need to do is take that step out of your zone and start taking risks.

Put Yourself in a New Environment: Another tip on how to step out of your comfort zone is to put yourself in a new environment, change your space once in a while, I started seeing changes in my approach towards life when I changed my environment, I started working at a bank as an intern, for me, everything was so fast-paced but as time went on I adapted and became even more productive, for me that was stepping out of my comfort zone. You need to do the same, change your environment, and watch yourself grow.

Take a Different Route: Tip number three on how to step out of your comfort zone is to take a different route from the one you have been taking, you would have been so used to the way you do things but if that is not working then you need to try something new, take a different route from the one you used to take.

Don’t Pick The Safe Choice: To get out of your comfort zone you need to stop picking the safe choice, start taking risk, the safe choice won’t help you for long.

Consider Other Points Of View: Another tip on how to step out of your comfort zone is to consider other points of view when you want to start on a project or something consider the other point of view.

Say Yes More Often: Most times when we want to stay in our comfort zone, we tend to say no to different opportunities and miss out on them. To get out of your comfort zone you need to start saying yes more often so that you will be able to grow and take risk.

Be Honest With Yourself: Tip number seven on how to step out of your comfort zone is to be very honest with yourself, whenever you want to start giving excuses not to do something be honest with yourself, this will help you confront what exactly is bothering you so that you can be able to move forward.

Become Clear About What You Are Aiming To Overcome: This is very important, you need to be clear about what you are aiming to overcome, In this case you are trying to step out of your comfort zone now narrow that down, do you want to step out of your comfort zone in your career? Is it in your love life? be very clear about what you are aiming to overcome.

Take Baby Steps: Another tip on how to step out of your comfort zone is to take baby steps, you don’t need to rush in stepping out of your comfort zone, take things slow and learn from the process.

Have Fun: The last tip on how to step out of your comfort zone is to have fun, enjoy the process as you go, enjoy the fun that comes with discovering yourself and what you can achieve.

  5. This is such a great post. Stepping outside your comfort zone is the only way to progress and experience life, in my opinion. Baby steps, as you said, are a great way to tackle something, especially if it frightens you a little. However, I tend to say ‘yes’ too often and become overwhelmed. I am trying to say ‘no’ more. πŸ˜‰ I am working on achieving a balance between the two.

  6. Great tips. I’m not sure why so many people seem to think that stepping out of your comfort zone needs to be done in one giant leap. By taking little baby steps, you can ease yourself into it – showing yourself that it’s not as hard as you may have thought it would be. For example, do you struggle being out in public alone (that’s a SERIOUS concern for some people). Well, maybe jumping into a full blown dinner at some restaurant where you’re worried that you would be the center of attention is a little much… Why not just grab a coffee alone at your local cafe first?

I love that you encourage taking baby steps to get out of our comfort zone. Too often, we think change has to be huge and life altering. Sometimes the small steps can get the job done, too.
