In this post, I will be sharing tips on how to overcome fear of failure since I talked about how to overcome self doubt in the last post, I thought why not share tips on how to overcome fear of failure.

The fear of failure is something that we all have in common, the fear of failure is so strong that some people miss out on a lot of opportunities, especially when you want to start something new. Failure can also lead to one’s success , a lot of successful people have attested to the fact that they have failed so many times before they became successful.

Causes Of Fear Of Failure

There are different causes of fear of failure, fear like I said can stop people from trying out new things, it creates self doubt and can stall you from making progress. here are the causes of fear of failure.

Perfectionism: This is one of the causes of fear failure, in fact you can say it is most times the root of fear of failure, To perfectionist, everything has to be perfect, to them, failure is so terrible and humiliating that they don’t even try, stepping out of their comfort zone is a no no for them.

Childhood Pattern: What this means is that there are some fear based rules that some parent have installed in their children right from childhood, this causes the children to constantly seek permission and reassures, some carry this into their adulthood.

Fragile Self Confidence: Someone with true self confidence knows that failure is part of what you have to go through to be successful. Someone with a fragile self confidence will avoid risks and play it safe.

How To Overcome Fear Of Failure

Identify Your Fear: The number one tip on how to overcome fear of failure is to identify your fear, ask yourself this question, what is the root cause of this fear of failure? since we have looked at the causes of fear of failure then look for the one that resonates with you. Write out where the fear of failure comes from and try to understand it.

Think More Positively: Another tip on how to overcome fear of failure is to think more positively, most times we believe what we tell ourselves, these days people are obsessed with being successful but it is also important to know that even the most successful people have come across failure. What you need to do is to identify that you sometimes have negative thoughts and once you know what triggers then it is up to you to start changing your mindset with positive things.

Get Out Of Your Head: You need to get out of your own head, when you start in your head for too long then self doubt will start creeping and then negative thoughts will start to take shape, you start to question everything. What you need to do is to get out of your head, go for a walk, listen to some music.

Always Have a Plan B: Tip number four on how to overcome fear of failure is to always have a plan b in everything that you do, I always tell people to always have a backup plan for the back up plan because you never know what is going to go wrong, life happens and when it does you need to be prepared.

Change Your Mindset Towards Your Goals: Honestly, I have been in this situation before, whenever I set goals, I always tell myself that I will not achieve it and I never did but as my mindset started changing and I started believing in myself, I started achieving my goals. All you need to do is believe in yourself to achieve your goals and always try to learn something new everyday.

Visualize The Outcome: The second to the last tip on how to overcome fear of failure is To visualize the outcome of whatever it is you want to do, picture the positive aspect and the negative aspect, this way you can mentally prepare yourself.

Take Action: The last tip on how to overcome fear of failure is to just take action, the best way to get rid of your fear is to just go headfirst into it, don’t think about anything, just take that bold step towards your goals/dream if you fail along the way then it is part of the process at least you will learn from it instead of regretting it in the future.

That is all i have for you on how to overcome fear of failure, all you need to is believe in yourself and i tell you , you will achieve anything that you put your mind to.
