Hi Guys

This is my first ever movie review but I thought I should do it because I so fell in love with this movie, crazy rich Asians and it’s has taught me that anything can happen so without further ado let’s begin.

The crazy rich Asians is a romantic comedy about Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) who is Chinese -American economics professor In New York who travels with her boyfriend Nick Young (Henry Golding) to meet his family during a fancy wedding in Singapore but Rachel has no idea that Nick’s family is filthy rich not until they were on the plane and they were lead to first class section that is when Nick explains to Rachel that his family are filthy rich with ‘old money’ real estate empire dating back to Singapore’s founding, she then realizes that she is going to be under the microscope from not only Nick’s family but also from the society (because Nick is like a celebrity)

After landing in Singapore, Rachel meets up with her college friends Goh Peik Lin (Awkwafina) who by the way is really rich she plays (let’s just say) Rachel’s Fairy Godmother because she helped pick her dress for her first meeting with Nick’s family and also for the wedding.

Nick’s mother Eleanor Young (nèe sung) is the main protagonist in the film, she is the definition of an uptight society matron consumed with pride, prestige and she conducted a private investigation on Rachael (which I personally consider to be extremely beneath her), her way of showing her love for her only son is by insisting that he meets and conform to her own standards and demands. Eleanor is obsessed about what the society thinks of her and places importance on pedigree and lineage that is why she spared no expense at sabotaging Nick and Rachel’s relationship during their visit to Singapore, she actually got Nick’s ex to undermine and rattle Rachel.

Rachel meets the rest of Nick’s family and got really close to Nick’s cousin

Astrid Leong -Teo (Gemma Chan), she is a double heiress (from both her parents side) she is a down to earth girl despite her being rich, she is married to Michael Teo (Pierre Png) who she later found out was cheating on her just because she doesn’t react to anything he does (I mean who does that?).

Fast forward to the best part, the part that made my friends and I cry so much (drum roll please) The Wedding!! I have to say that by far that is the most amazing, beautiful and let’s not forget unique wedding ever!! I mean the church literally looked like a jungle and the dress the bride wore was so beautiful with no shoes, I believe every girl in the theater was crying. The bride whose name is Araminta Lee played by British born Japanese model Sonoya Mizuno, she is the heiress daughter to the richest man in China, Peter Lee and luxury hotelier Annabel Lee.

In the end, Rachel and Nick got engaged to each other despite all the drama and the tears, amazingly Nick‘s gave him her blessing to marry Rachel (who knew she could come around)

This movie by far is the most interesting, funny romantic comedy movie of 2018 (in my own opinion) and it has taught me that love has no barrier whether you are rich or poor and it doesn’t judge you for who you are, it’s just we humans that judge each other based on how rich or how poor one’s family is before loving each other which should not be so.

If you have watched this movie, let me know what your thoughts are on it.
