Steps To Forgiveness

Acknowledge That You Are Hurting: One of the steps to forgiveness is to acknowledge that you hurting, most times we hide our anger people and sometimes from ourselves unless it is let out in full-blown rage. It takes a lot of courage to be honest to yourself and to other people that you have a lot of anger inside of you. it’s going to be scary but it is a step towards forgiveness. You can start by journaling, writing down what made you angry right from childhood to date. This will help you with your healing process.

Identify Your Feelings: Now that you have acknowledged that you are hurt, you need to identify how and what your feelings are towards what you have written down, Separate yourself from the situation and then analyze each and everything that you have written down, am I still angry about this? can I forgive this person? will I be able to forgive myself? These are the questions that you need to ask yourself so that you can identify your feelings so that you can take steps to forgiveness for yourself and for others.

Forgive Yourself And Others: This is one of the important steps to forgiveness is to forgive yourself and others when someone hurts us very deeply it is very hard for us to forgive and forget especially for we were expecting it from that person but we have to remember that holding on to anger is not hurting the other person especially if the other person is remorseful about what they did. When you do not forgive your stress levels goes up and it will affect you both physically and emotionally. My suggestion is that you need to make a decision from your head, not your heart that you want to forgive and then start from there.

Recognize How The Event is Affecting You: Another steps to forgiveness are to recognize how the event is affecting you. If you do not forgive someone then it is going to affect your present-day and you moving forward with your life.

Release Yourself From Your Emotional Prison: The last steps to forgiveness is to release yourself from your emotional prison, let go of your emotions, forgive yourself and the others that offended you so that you can move forward with your life.

That is all the tips I have for you on steps to forgiveness, remember that these things take time, they do not happen overnight.
